Constructing a hollow portrait sculpture with white clay and adding colour to it, that is fascinating!
The tradition of plastic portraits in bronze, plaster, wax and terracotta is very old. Again and again artists have longed for colour versions, to make the portraits look even more lifelike.
On this course we work from a life model. We begin by studying and familiarizing ourselves with the shape of the model. Next we construct the head using the 'hollow modelling' technique. Colour can be added right from the start of the modelling process, to give a first impression. By adding colourful clothing and accessories the expression will be embellished, giving the portrait a contemporary appearance. We will look closely at the contrast between photorealism and giving expression and colour to a form.
The portraits can be taken home in leather hard condition. When they are completely dry they can be fired at home.
There is an additional charge of CHF 40.- per person for the model.
Cost of materials for the use of clay and paints: approx. SFr. 100.00 per person.
The course language is German, but the tutor also speaks French and English.
